Twas the Night Before A Show

Lizzie stayed over on the night before the show.

She brought along her new Dos Brio resin named Snitch. He was painted by Sue Kern and sculpted by Sheila Bishop  .
When Lizzie had first gotten her Dos Brio, she’d asked me for name suggestions. I must have had Harry Potter on my mind because I said Snitch and Lizzie decided on Gunners Gotta Golden Snitch.
We decided to do a photo shoot with him and some of my Harry Potter Stuff. My other talent in life is book hoarding, so I have the books along with various additions and spin off books. I got to go to Harry Potter World two years ago, and came home with many items, including wands.
I ran a Tween book club last summer to earn my Girl Scout Gold Award, and one of the kids in the group gave me a golden snitch (our last book was Harry Potter)
Not the best picture, but a model named Snitch must pose with a golden snitch.

#ModelHorseMonday

Periodically on Facebook and Instagram the hashtag #ModelHorseMonday comes up.
So I decided to use the hashtag. My #ModelHorseMonday horse is my Working for Chex “Bueno” resin. He was scuplted by Debbi LerMond and I bought him over the summer.

He’s a large and chunky model that lives a double life as a magnet. He has two magnets in his hooves so whenever I drop things, I use him to pick them up! My plan is to find someone to paint him so that he can be a show model instead!

Resin Painting

I decided that one of my long weekend projects would be to paint a resin, since I have like 2 weeks until my next show. There’s also a side saddle too. 🙂
I prepped her.

Then I painted her base color with acrylics. I splurged and bought higher quality paint, and it definitely shows. I kept doing layers until it was even.

After that I began using pastels and began to shade. I went from light to dark. It took a couple of layers to get it even and between coats I used krylon matte spray. Also I wore gloves so that my skin didn’t touch the unsealed pastels.

Once I was happy with the pastels, I sprayed the model with the krylon crystal clear. Once dry, then I added the white markings and painted her eyes.

Here she is!
