When I first started this saddle I was nervous about not getting enough detail into it. After the tree came out as planned, the next step was resizing my pattern using a scanner. Then came tooling, dying, cutting and assembling. When it was a pile of pieces it wasn’t nearly as interesting. Now that I’ve been putting it together, I’m happy to say that even in doing this smaller scale I didn’t have to sacrifice any detail.

Today was a great day.
I made progress on a pebble scale western working set. The tricky part to this was making the tree and making sure it wasn’t too bulky.

I also went riding and rode Andrew the quirky Thoroughbred. I even convinced my mom to come along. Horses and her name rarely end up in the same sentence so her tagging along was nice.

I’ve had this costume idea for a couple of years, but never tried it because:
A) My tack making skills weren’t there yet
B) Didn’t have the *perfect* model to wear it
Neither of those things are an issue now, so I began with part one of the costume. I modified my champron pattern from two years ago to match the reference.

There’s going to be a bunch of parts to this, but I really like the shape of the champron.

I may add more black to make it look a bit more weathered. Not sure if there’s enough pieces yet, but can anyone guess what the costume is?

The western saddle is 99% done. I need to do some things to the stirrups but the saddle-saddle is done. A girth and a bridle needs made but first I need to figure out who will wear it.
I’m *very* happy with how this came out. I feel like my tooling has come a long way since last year’s Harry Potter saddle!

It snowed last week. It lasted overnight before melting away. But there was enough for me to have it in a picture. This is what I’ve been reading. The 5th Wave. Well, other than textbooks. I’ve started it off and on since high school (I found a valentine’s day chocolate and flower buying form inside it!). Since the movie is coming out I have a deadline to meet and maybe it will be the final push for me to finish it. The movie looks like it will be good and interesting. Plus I like the people in it, which is a plus.
It’s told in 1st and 3rd person from different characters. If the whole thing was written in 3rd person……I think I would have finished it by now. But I’m curious about how it will end so I think it will be finally completed.
