It’s 2024! Which means tack making. I actually have been working on this before the new year, but it’s going to end up being my first finished piece for 2024. It’s a working western saddle that’ll be made for Astrid, the Fjord pony.
It began with tooling.
Time is weird. I was fitting an English saddle and decided to check to see when I’d made it. It had to have been like a year, right?
The saddle from yesterday is almost finished. It’s much better than the ugly phase. It’s almost done. I’ve really happy with the knee rolls.
I started on a new saddle tonight. I’m trying out some new techniques with it. I’m happy with how even the dye came out and how the leather types cause a nice color contrast. Every piece of art goes through an ugly phase, but this particular saddle’s ugly phase is especially revolting. Hopefully that means it’ll turn out really nice?
