To The Beach Part 2

On Tuesday, it was overcast when Madison and I woke up. Crossing our fingers that it wouldn’t rain, we went to the meeting spot for Captain Dan’s Around The Island Tour. Madison had been on it before, but this was my first time. I was hoping to see Blue Moon, the pony that both Madison and I had bought into in 2015.

Captain Dan has lived on Chincoteague his whole life and was happy to explain all parts of the islands. Including the story of these houses.
They were built prior to the wildlife refuge and were grandfathered in, but once they are no longer standing, they cannot be rebuilt. So that was an interesting fact.
The perfect trifecta of touring would have been finding Bald Eagle, dolphin, and ponies. We did see a Bald Eagle, and the first pony we came upon was Rainbow Warrior.
The next set of ponies we came to were a part of Ace’s band. Ace is the black horse.
There was one foal in the band.
He was fun to watch.

We didn’t see Blue Moon, but we did see Riptide’s band.

He has a large band. I think one of the largest if not the largest one of the Assateague Stallions.

They were the last ponies we saw on tour before heading in. While we didn’t hit the Trifecta, we did see a Tricolored Heron.
If you want to own an island, this one is for sale lol.
After the tour, it was time to wander around the Chincoteague Museum before heading to the beach.

Which is where Misty and Stormy now reside.

To The Beach Part 1

The midweek trip to Chincoteague in mid June started with an email. There was a hotel special going on so Madison of Gyrfalcon Studios and I decided to do a beach trip together. We stayed for three days and we couldn’t ask for better weather. It wasn’t too hot nor too cold and there was a constant breeze. Chincoteague is only 4 1/2 hours from us. We left early on a  Monday and got to Chincoteague around noon.
The first stop after doing the whole hotel check in was the Chincoteague Pony Centre.

Walked around and shopped for a bit.

 Saw Misty’s Hoofprints.

Then, before heading to the beach we stopped at the pasture next to Macdonalds to see their ponies. Both mares belong to the Leonards of the Chincoteague Pony Farm.

I really really wanted to get sunset pictures.

It was so worth it.

The beach is filled with so many colors at dusk and there were more birds than people.
We decided to go to the Chincoteague Pony Show the next night, so we’d miss the sunset. So I tried to make the most of it while there.
Day 1 was fun on Chincoteague and Assateague and Day 2 was about to top it. Because. More ponies.

Around

Where have I been been? Around.
I was at a pet adoption event.

Then went to the beach where I saw wild

Ace’s Band

and tame ponies on Chincoteague and Assateague.

Chincoteague Teaguer

Then came finishing The Wizard of Oz mural and painting giant books.(The ones on the right of the door were by me, plus the Hobbit).

June was a fun month. Next up: Breyerfest!

She has a name!

After hundreds of names were given as ideas of the buyback filly, the list was  narrowed down to a few. I picked CLG Surfer’s Blue Moon from the short list, and am glad to say that’s her official name. Everyone that donated gets a certificate too, and since she has a name I’ll have to get my certificate printed. 🙂
I can’t wait to see what she sheds out to be, but I do love her blue eyes.
