I love the creativity of the performance entries in the Children’s division, so enjoy!

Breyerfest 2018: Children & Youth Show
I’ve been involved with this show for like ten years. First as an entrant and now as a steward.

While the show is faced paced, the judges will still take time aside to talk to entrants. The whole point of this show is to encourage the younger side of the hobby to get involved in showing.

The prizes have changed since I showed. Special glossy models specific to the show are no longer awarded. An atmosphere similar to a model horse version of Toddlers & Tiaras was starting to end with damaged models.
So now the award models are a few tiers below the glossies. They’re still special and limited but they don’t entice entrants to use sharpies on each other’s models.
Which means the show caters more towards newer showers. Explaining why certain models placed and giving tips on how to give a model a better breed comes into play. And helping to steer showers towards making a nice entry.

The celebration model class is unique to this show. The current year’s celebration models are placed on the table according to their owners’ age group.
So many models.
This class teaches how to pick models and decide which ones to show. Eleanor and Kim gave feedback to the winners and always made sure to remind showers that judging is subjective and you’re paying for one judge’s opinion for one day. And also that their models were pretty.
Breyerfest Live: Customs and OF
My favorite part of live showing is performance. That’s where I stayed for the majority of the show. Still, I found myself at the customs.
Kylee Parks’s customs were on point.
I absolutely loved the expression of this mare.
Between the custom and performance rings was collectibility. My collectiability knowledge is limited but it was cool to see rare and one of a kind models in person!
