I love getting stuff in the mail. Today I got a shipment of leather from The Unicorn Woman.
It came packaged well and it came pretty really fast!

Here’s how I made the saddle in this post.
I used Rio Rondo’s alternative pattern and picked the Dropped Front Rigging assembly.
and tooled it. Then I outlined it with a black marker. Afterwards I dyed it with a chestnut color.
Assembling it was pretty easy.
Last night, my first “real” resin arrived! Phoenix is here!
She was wrapped very well,
and looks awesome too. She’s a very smooth casting.
I can’t wait to give her a new coat, and show her in performance!
That’s a new saddle on her too, the one from the tree, here! I’ll do a post on it too :)
Today I tooled my very first piece of saddle leather. After looking on line for how-tos I used a fellow hobbyer’s blog, Riversong Musings, and used her how-to on tooling leather to help. Then I used the extra sheet in Rio Rondo’s western saddle kit for the pattern. All in all I’d call it a pretty good first try!
Also, Happy New Year!
