BreyerFest Best of Customs

BreyerFest is *very soon*. A precursor to all the fun revolves around the various contest unveilings. The diorama contest submission deadline was last week. The entries are amazing this year. They always are, but this year’s entries seem to have dialed it up a notch in creativity and execution.

A few weeks ago, the BreyerFest Best of Customs entries were due. This premier contest is judged by highly respected artists in the model horse hobby.

Last year, I entered the Dress To Impress category. Breyerfest decided to make tack a permanent category.

Initially I wasn’t going to do it. At work, the annual event at that time was consuming all creative energy (honestly, it was sucking up all of the energy).

I have many saddles I’ve made over the years. I thought about entering my Watership Down parade set. Then I thought about reentering the carriage set.

I eventually went with an English Sidesaddle I finished earlier this year. It is a completed set, and the best one I’ve ever made.

I tacked up my BreyerFest Dani and went to Cupboard Maker Books for photos. I took photos inside, but the best ones were taken outside.

I’m very pleased with this set and I can’t wait to see the finalists this year!
