Ohio Bookstore

The Book Loft wasn’t the last bookstore we visited in Ohio. Next on the bookstore roadtrip was Ohio Bookstore.

It was founded in 1940 by James Hardwick. It’s now owned by James Fallon, who started working at the store in 1956! How cool is that? James purchased the store in 1971. Where The Book Loft primarily has recent and easier to obtain books, Ohio Bookstore has many rare and antique books.

It’s five floors with over 300,000 books and magazines.

Look at these beautiful copies of the Oz books.

I ventured through all the floors.

Ohio Bookstore has a robust vintage Life collection. For years I’ve off and on looked for the issues that featured Misty of Chincoteague and Marguerite Henry. This seemed like the perfect chance to find them.

And I did! They’re in great shape.

This was a unique bookstore and I’m so glad we stopped!
