In the evening after our bookstore Pittsburgh stop, we bought tickets to see the Pittsburgh Zoo Asian Lantern Festival. I was excited to see this–a few years ago Sam and I had gone to a sky lantern festival. The last time I went was in 2019–and during the day.
On the drive to the zoo, there was a beautiful rainbow.
It welcomed us as we came to the zoo gates.
This self-guided walking tour ran from August 11th through October 29th.
There were numerous photo-op stops. A few animals were still out—such as this rhino.
The 2023 Festival highlighted the 125th anniversary of the zoo. Everywhere you looked there were lanterns and bright colors.
All of the lanterns were gorgeous.
I can’t recommend this enough!
If you have a chance, definitely go see it.
